Gauteng aims to keep G20-style service delivery

JOHANNESBURG - It's the first day of the historic G20 summit in South Africa.

World leaders from the 20 biggest economies, various regional blocs and invited states are meeting in Nasrec.

They will be discussing issues of global importance and how to make the world a better place.

This is the first G20 summit held on African soil.

Gauteng government spokesperson Elijah Mhlanga said government coordinated with municipalities and agencies to repair and prepare infrastructure such as roads, traffic signals and street lights.

"We went on a beautification project to make sure the environment is clean and conducive for what we wanted to achieve here," Mhlanga said.

Mhlanga said what they've learnt from their preparation is that collaboration and planning can work and accelerate service delivery.

"The service delivery model that we adopted for preparations towards the G20 are going to be maintained and sustained," he said.
