Gauteng communities troubled by gangs want results, not promises

JOHANNESBURG - The South African Police Service says it has a new strategy to fight crime and gang violence plaguing Gauteng and three other provinces.

While police top brass gathered in Johannesburg to discuss the implementation of the strategy, residents of suburbs beset by gangs say only results matter.

The police service is confident that change is coming, but crime-ridden communities have lost faith in the SAPS's promises.

They say only tangible results will restore their faith in policing.
