Gauteng crime | Lesufi crime pact sparks debate over policing powers

JOHANNESBURG - The Gauteng Premier is acting on his pledge to allocate more resources to crime-fighting.

But a local government expert is warning the move may cause confusion.

Premier Panyaza Lesufi has signed a landmark agreement between the provincial government and municipalities to combat crime through a more integrated approach.

It comes just ahead of the Easter weekend, when crime in Gauteng typically spikes.
