JOHANNESBURG - The Gauteng Health Department says it is increasing efforts to recover outstanding patient fees.
The department is using debt collectors upfront payment requirements and improvements to billing and claim systems to recover the money.
The debt includes amounts owed by self-paying patients government departments and medical aid schemes and total over four and a half billion rand.
