JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng Traffic Police Chief Inspector Samuel Mashaba has been placed on precautionary suspension.
The Office of the Premier says the suspension will remain in place pending the outcome of a formal disciplinary process.
The development follows allegations before the Madlanga Commission linking Mashaba to an alleged criminal network.

This follows scrutiny over his role in the Aeroton drug bust.
Recent testimony also focused on his relationship with a police informant and admissions that he accepted money from the individual.
Mashaba is the latest law enforcement official to be suspended or arrested following revelations at the Commission.
