PRETORIA - A Hawks officer and a Tembisa Hospital official are appearing in the Pretoria magistrate’s court on corruption charges.
It's alleged the pair tried to bribe an investigator with R100,000 to derail a case linked to the hospital.
But the officer reported the approach, triggering a sting operation authorised by the NPA.
The sergeant and the hospital official were arrested after handing over the cash.
Acting Hawks head, Lieutenant General Siphosihle Nkosi, has praised the investigator’s integrity
and promises that corruption within the unit will be rooted out.
Nkosi adds that probes into wrongdoing at Tembisa Hospital will continue without fear or favour.
