PRETORIA - Suliman Carrim's arrest and court appearance are already taking a toll on his health.
That is a warning from his lawyer, advocate Hendrik Potgieter.
Potgieter claimed his client has a heart condition and fears the anxiety of the case could trigger a panic attack.
Carrim was arrested at OR Tambo International Airport after failing to appear before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry multiple times.
"The accused person that appears before court, it's known and it was, now if one listens to the summary given from the Commission by my learned friend, we know that he's got a heart condition that the Commission accepted on occasions to postpone the matter because of the heart condition that he was hospitalised during that period for the heart condition.
"Your Worship, I'm informed by the accused person that the stress and the anxiety is taking a toll on him. He didn't use any medication this morning and he further states that he can feel that it might lead to a panic attack which would be detrimental to his medical condition."
