PRETORIA - The personal relationship between former Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) head Advocate Andrea Johnson and Major-General Feroz Khan came under question at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry on Wednesday.
During Johnson's sixth day on the hot seat, evidence leader Advocate Mahlape Sello presented the commission with text messages between the pair
One of the first text extracts showed Khan had invited Johnson and her family for supper.
Johnson acknowledged this invite but insisted it never happened.

Following those text messages, Sello also focused on the manner in which the two addressed each other.
According to Sello, there were several text messages where the two addressed each other with phrases such as ‘hi, gorgeous’, ‘dearest’ and even expressed how they missed each other.
According to Sello, these messages showed the pair's relationship extended beyond a professional one.
Johnson also faced questions over the arranged meeting between the two at the IDAC office.
During this visit, once again, detailed text messages revealed how Khan entered the IDAC offices through a VIP entrance without signing in, which was against standard protocol.
The visit related to Khan’s concern that someone from the Hawks was plotting against him and needed assistance from Johnson.

Sello, who pressed Johnson, said Khan was not coming to visit in his capacity as a VIP but instead in his personal capacity and needed a favour from her.
She argued that Johnson's intentions were to avoid a record of this visit and that their personal relationship was to an extent where they would go to great lengths to accommodate each other.
Andrea, who did not dismiss the visit, admitted that Khan is not an exception to the rule that when high-ranking officials are invited to the office, they are expected to use the side entrance.
“I am not disputing that he used the entrance. He did come to visit me, and unfortunately, when he did, it turned out to have nothing to do with the Hawks, but he had an issue about someone plotting against him," she said.
