CAPE TOWN - Parliament has disputed National Coloured Congress leader Fadiel Adams' claims that he wrote to the National Assembly Speaker about the Political Killings Task Team (PKTT).
Speaking to eNCA on Wednesday, Adams said had written to the speaker months ago on questioning why the PKTT had allegedly broken the authority of Parliament?
But he said he never got a response.
He said that this was not the first time he had written to Parliament, this as he claims he cited concerns over an increase in salary of secretary of Parliament.
But Parliament spokesperson Moloto Mothapo said there is no record of any communication from Adams to the Speaker’s office.
He further described Adams' allegations as 'far-fetched'
According to Mothapo office bearers, do not determine their own salaries, neither does the Speaker nor any member of Parliament, a magistrate or a member of the judiciary.
"There is an independent commission that is established exactly for that. Whether it's a determination of a salary or an annual increase, there is an independent commission that does that"
"On the alleged salary increase or the PKTT matter there is no evidence of such correspondence," he said.
Parliament's comment comes amid other claims Adams made at the Madlanga Commission.
Adams told the commission that his faulty device had caused him to miss critical emails.
He further added that he had to rely on phone calls and colleagues for updates about his work.
This he said contributed to the delay in his response to the commission.
But Parliament disputed the claim saying Information and Communications Technology (ICT) records showed no evidence of persistent malfunction or repeated repairs.
It said the logged issues were mainly password, login and Wi-Fi problems and that Adams had access to other devices to maintain his work.
