JOHANNESBURG - Residents of the Hollywood informal settlement in Evaton West are outraged.
They've received eviction notices, despite their claims that the ward councillor allocated the land to the community. They now fear they've been scammed.
After being served with notices, close to 400 people in the Evaton West settlement could become homeless.

The ward councillor insists that the community is on the land legally.
The owner of the land says he's been left with no choice but to file for an eviction order.
While the community scrambles to find a way to fight the impending eviction, the Emfuleni Municipality - cited as a second respondent in court papers - has refused to comment.
The courts will hear the landowners' bid for an eviction order on Monday.
