EAST LONDON - The Winter Initiation Season in the Eastern Cape has once again shone the spotlight on unscrupulous traditional surgeons.
They've been found to have operated at 279 illegal schools, endangering the lives of hundreds, if not thousands, of boys.

Eleven deaths have been reported, with seven of them in the OR Tambo District.
Some responsibility is being placed on parents, who are not always around when their children go through the rite of passage.
