CAPE TOWN - Former Miss SA contestant Chidimma Adetshina said she believes that she has been treated unfairly.
"I believe that I have been treated unfairly and targeted. And there has been an attempt to make me an example," she said.
She insists that she was born in South Africa and that she applied through the proper legal channels to have her status and citizenship determined.
Adetshina was speaking outside the Cape Town Regional Court on Wednesday, where she made a brief appearance for her deportation case.

The court, however, postponed judgment after it could not make a determination pending a case before the High Court.
This is where Adetshina has challenged her prohibited status.
“Throughout this ordeal, I have availed myself of all appropriate legal recourse, and I'll continue to respect and abide by each process.”
In the same breath, Adetshina warned against misinformation.
“My message is not going to be one born of anger. South Africa is governed by the rule of law, and we should not allow xenophobia and misinformation to determine how people are going to be treated. We should all be guided by the spirit of Ubuntu.”
Adetshina will be back in court on 23 February 2026.
