JOHANNESBURG - The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) will officially launch its national campaign for the 2026 Local Government Elections.
Under the slogan Get Up. Show Up. Vote, the IEC says the launch signals the formal start of the election campaign period.
Voter registration will take place on 20 and 21 June, ahead of the polls scheduled for 4 November.

The launch follows the earlier unveiling of the IEC’s refreshed election logo in April.
Amid voter apathy, the Electoral Commission describes the rebrand as a modern approach to strengthening local democracy and encouraging higher voter turnout.
The IEC says the campaign is aimed at rebuilding public confidence.
