MAKHANDA - The Makana Local Municipality is under pressure, but officials say they will not be held to ransom by residents.
Tensions continue to flare up between the community, private security and police over illegal land occupations.
It's an additional problem the municipality now has to deal with after appearing before the Human Rights Commission for service delivery failures.
Makhanda residents complain that not only is Makana Local Municipality unable to provide them with basic services, but now it wants to chase them away from unoccupied land.
