ROODEPOORT - Two illegal miners remain trapped underground in a disused mine in Roodepoort, Johannesburg.
Rescue operations were halted after efforts to get down the mine shaft and save them became too dangerous.
The community is aware of illegal mining happening in the area and say they're desperate to get the two men out alive.

It's unclear whether the two men are still alive as oxygen levels have dropped to around 14 percent in the shaft.
There's also been no announcement on when the rescue operation will continue.
