Intelligence Inspector-General suspended

PRETORIA - President Cyril Ramaphosa has suspended Inspector-General of Intelligence, Imtiaz Fazel.

The suspension is effective immediately following a complaint about his conduct.

Parliament’s Joint Standing Committee on Intelligence will investigate the matter.

Fazel was appointed to the post in 2022 for a five-year term that ends in October 2027.

He has also served in positions at the State Security Agency and Public Works.
