Investigations into deaths of three constables underway

PRETORIA - Police have launched an investigation following the discovery of three missing constables.

Their bodies were found in the Hennops River in Centurion on Tuesday.

Their remains were among five retrieved from the river.

But the VW Polo Cebekhulu Linda, Keamogetswe Buys and Boipelo Senoge were travelling in has not been found.

Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola believes finding the vehicle will help establish what happened.

Gauteng Police Commissioner Tommy Mthombeni explains how the bodies were identified.

He said fingerprints were taken and compared to records.

The incident is raising questions about the circumstances surrounding their deaths.

Forensic investigator Chad Thomas said detectives will have to ascertain what transpired that led to this tragedy.
