JOHANNESBURG - Israel has been granted six more months to respond to South Africa's allegations that it's committing genocide in Gaza.
Israel was meant to reply to South Africa’s submissions by the end of July.
That deadline has been extended to 12 January 2026.

Israel asked the International Court of Justice for extra time.
It said it needed to attend to evidentiary issues and the scope of the case.
South Africa objected on the basis that there was insufficient justification for an extension.
It also argued that any delay would be unjustifiable based on the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
