Joburg mayor faces third no-confidence motion

JOHANNESBURG - The City of Johannesburg is potentially approaching its 11th mayor in a decade.

Mayor Dada Morero is facing a motion of no confidence for the third time since he took office in August 2024.

Al Jamah-ah initiated the motion, which the Minority Governing Party is backing.

They met on Tuesday evening and resolved to remove Morero.

The parties say pressure is growing within the ANC for Morero to step down.

Morero failed to secure the regional chairmanship, and his successor, Loyiso Masuku, is tipped to take over.
