JOHANNESBURG - Democratic Alliance (DA) leader John Steenhuisen is widely expected to withdraw from the party’s ongoing leadership contest.
Steenhuisen is expected to make a formal announcement on Wednesday morning.

The move comes amid growing internal tensions within the party, including a highly publicised rift between Steenhuisen and former DA Federal Chair Dion George.
The DA’s Federal Congress is scheduled for April, where a new leader will be elected.
