KZN floods | Government promises permanent homes for victims

DURBAN - The Human Settlements Department is promising to find permanent housing solutions for KwaZulu-Natal flood victims.

Minister Thembi Simelane visited flood-affected areas on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Weeks of heavy rain have left hundreds displaced, with infrastructure severely damaged.

Simelane says temporary shelters must not be allowed to become permanent homes.

The department says homes will be built in Cornubia, Hammarsdale and Shallcross despite resistance from communities.
