DURBAN - Heavy rains continue to batter parts of KwaZulu-Natal.
The subsequent floods have left a trail of destruction.
Lives have been lost, homes washed away, and public infrastructure destroyed.
The provincial Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs is working against the clock to provide rescue and relief for affected residents.

KwaZulu-Natal Cogta MEC, Thulasizwe Buthelezi, said search and recovery efforts are underway near Pietermaritzburg.
One person's body has been recovered. Two people are still missing.
More than 400 people have been displaced by the floods.
