PRETORIA - With the US-Iran conflict fuelling uncertainty across the Middle East, South Africa is renewing its call for an immediate ceasefire.
Speaking in Pretoria alongside Germany’s Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul, International Relations Minister Ronald Lamola warned that the fallout between the US and Iran stretches far beyond the battlefield.
He said rising energy prices and mounting economic pressures are now being felt globally.
"We continue to call for the cessation of hostilities in the war of the US and Israel against Iran," said Lamola.
"We believe that it is in the interest of the international community that this conflict is resolved as soon as possible, because of its impact on the economy and on energy prices, and costs across the globe, including fertiliser to the African continent."
