JOHANNESBURG - Embattled KZN provincial Hawks head Leseja Senona's lawyer, Rudolph Baloyi, has refuted claims that his client is in hiding.
He says these claims are incorrect and insists that Senona is in a safe place of safety after feeling threatened.
This was after he was allegedly escorted out of his office, in the headquarters of the KwaZulu-Natal South African Police Service, on 31 January.
"The fact that he was followed from his office to his residence and that there were other cars outside of his residence is the reason why he feels threatened," Baloyi explained.
SAPS provincial spokesperson, Colonel Robert Netshiunda, detailed how Senona had accessed the building on Saturday without following security protocols.

At that time, Senona could have opted to call the person who had been inquiring about his presence at the office but instead chose to leave the office, taking state property, Netshiunda said.
Netshiunda also disputed claims that Senona was followed home.
Baloyi said they are now seeking clarity over the seizure of Senona's work devices and his employment status as he was not suspended.
The KZN Hawks head was removed after being implicated with crime figures during the Madlanga Commission.
