Lilian Ngoyi Street | DA demands inquiry into repair contracts

JOHANNESBURG - The DA in Johannesburg believes there is corruption in the Lilian Ngoyi Street repair contracts.

It wants to know what happened to the money the first contractor was paid.

It follows Mayor Dada Morero's declaration that R82-million has been spent to fix the road.

The street was damaged in an underground gas explosion in July 2023.

"It is shocking that we are seeing paving instead of actual repair of the road, and we believe there is something fishy going on," said Belinda Kayser-Echeozonjoku, DA Joburg caucus leader.
