Nancy Muchara, whose sister survived the crash, says a painful moment awaits them — breaking the news that her sister’s child did not make it.
Muchara says they had hoped that the one-year-and-five-month-old boy was still alive.
“We tried to look for the boy in various hospitals. We had hope that he would still be alive. But when we saw the pictures, that’s when reality hit. That’s when we knew we were faced with death,” she said.
A number of passengers, travelling from Gqeberha in the Eastern Cape, did not have identity documents, complicating the process.
Officials are now collecting fingerprints, to match with those from Malawi and Zimbabwe.
