Limpopo death toll rises to 18 as floods cause widespread devastation

LIMPOPO - Eighteen people have died and five others remain missing as floods continue to batter Limpopo.

The search for the missing people, including two teenagers and a four-year old will resume on Monday. 

Heavy storms have battered the province swallowing homes and causing substantial damage to infrastructure. 

Schools are expected to reopen in some districts after they couldn’t open last week due to severe flooding.

Meanwhile, the body of a man swept away last week in Vhembe District was found on Sunday night.

He had attempted to cross the overflowing Mutale River on Tuesday.

Government has declared a State of Disaster in the affected provinces.
