Limpopo premier promises action after school records zero matric passes

JOHANNESBURG - The Limpopo government is promising to take action for the poor performance of Naledi Ya Meso School.

Its matric class of just 15 pupils recorded no passes.

Premier Phophi Ramathuba says no one wants to take accountability.

Ramathuba said the school was facing multifaceted problems, including the absence of leadership and management.

“The school governing body blamed the circuit manager. The circuit manager indicated that the principal had health challenges. Most of the time she is not at school,” Ramathuba said.

The premier added that pupils also had their specialised group of subjects changed during the course of 2025, which also impacted their performance.

“We know the challenges now. The MEC knows what needs to be done. We have made the diagnosis.

"You don’t change the teachers, you don’t change the parents, you change management,” she said.

The province’s overall matric results increased to 86.15 percent.
