LIVESTREAM | Madlanga Commission continues

PRETORIA - The Madlanga Commission is expected to focus on the R300-million Aeroton cocaine bust on Monday.

It's been looking into the theft and poor storage of seized drugs in Gauteng and KZN.

The first witness to take the stand on Monday is SAPS Lieutenant-Colonel Nkoana Joseph Sebola of the Hawks. Sebola is returning to the Commission after his testimony last month.

The inquiry spent the last week scrutinising high-profile drug busts and allegations of inside jobs.

It's related to two major cocaine heists. One was in Aeroton where 750 kilograms of cocaine was being stored.

The other heist was in Port Shepstone, where R200-million worth of cocaine was stolen.

Gavin Jacob of the Serious Organised Crime Unit admitted to discrepancies and contradictions.

He was testifying on the decision to store the narcotics in a poorly secured facility in 2021.
