PRETORIA - The Madlanga Commission has been adjourned to Friday.
KZN Hawks head Lesetja Senona was meant to take the stand, but his lawyers objected to the documents provided.
An agreement has now been reached for him to testify in January.
“We do not want to go into the rights and wrongs of that. General Senona has correctly presented himself today," said evidence leader Matthew Chaskalson
“After discussions with his legal team, we agreed that his evidence need not proceed today. He will testify in January next year,” Chaskalson said.
Chakalson said Senona would be required to submit a sworn statement ahead of his appearance next year.
A similar delay has been requested by the witness scheduled for Thursday, suspended acting Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department head Julius Mkhwanazi.
Chakalson says he, too, has asked for more time because of the volume and seriousness of the evidence he plans to present.
“The evidence leaders have agreed to accommodate him next week,” Chakalson said.
The delays mean the commission has no witness lined up for Thursday.
