PRETORIA - Witness B, a detective from the Gauteng Organised Crime Unit, told the Madlanga Commission that an investigation into Katiso "KT" Molefe's nephew, Lucky Molefe, was the reason Armand Swart was killed.
In 2023, Lucky allegedly awarded a contract to a company called SK Group without following procedure.
Q-Tech Engineering was a major Transnet supplier for over 40 years before SK group entered the picture.
The company was linked to Lucky and Thapelo Molefe, Katiso Molefe's son.
Witness B says they found something alarming during their investigations.

After finding out he was being investigated, Lucky allegedly told Katiso Molefe, who allegedly organised Warrant Officer Michael Pule Tau, Musa Kekana and Tiego Mabusela take out Swart, who was mistakenly identified as a whistleblower.
Witness B says it's clear that Swart's murder case exposed how high-profile figures had infiltrated the South African Police Service.
Senior officials are said to have gone as far as tampering with the ballistic report to compromise the case.

Transnet says Lucky Molefe's employment contract has since been terminated and the investigation into the matter closed.
It says any further developments in the matter will be communicated.
He remains a wanted man.
Witness B is expected to continue giving testimony on Thursday.
