PRETORIA - KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi has started backing up his claims of corruption in the South African Police Service.
Security strategist Andy Mashaile reckons Mkhwanazi made a solid start to his testimony, which is expected to last several days.
"After lunch, names were named and I can tell you people are not going to sleep nice," he said.
"It says to me he really had the intention to ensure that corruption is rooted out."
Before his bombshell press conference, Mkhwanazi approached Parliament's Portfolio Committee on Police with his concerns, but he could not get the desired result.
In reaction to day one of the Madlanga Commission, committee chairperson Ian Cameron says there are many revelations to come.
"If you look at the content shared and you see the amount of information that has been shared, names that have been named, it's become far more detailed than just a basic smear campaign," he said.
