Madlanga Commission | New witness expected at inquiry

PRETORIA - An expert on the legislative framework governing the South African Police Service (SAPS) is expected on the stand at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry on Thursday.

This is the third witness to appear before the commission after KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkwanazi and National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemala

Over five days, both Mkhwanazi and Masemola detailed the establishment and controversial dismantling of the Political Killings Task Team (PKTT) and accused senior politicians of interfering with police work among those being Police Minister Senzo Mchunu.

Also key in the testemonies was a warning that South Africa’s criminal justice system is on the brink of collapse due to the inflitration of criminal syndiactes.

Now anticipation builds on who this expert who will be called in will be who will have to clarify the SAPS entire legal framework, who calls the short, where the bug stops and who should be held accountable.
