Madlanga Commission | Safety vs transparency as inquiry ponders proceedings

PRETORIA - The Presidency says there are security interventions on standby should it become necessary to protect the work of the Madlanga Commission and its witnesses.

Evidence leaders are adamant that the sixth witness must testify behind closed doors for safety reasons.

But two media houses believe the proceedings must be made public in the interest of transparency.

The commission will resume on Tuesday, where commission chair Mbuyiseli Madlanga is expected to rule on submissions made by the media publications and evidence leaders on whether or not the proceedings should be held in-camera.
