Madlanga rules Witness G testimony to be heard fully in camera

PRETORIA – The Madlanga Commission has ruled the testimony of ‘Witness G’ will now be heard fully in camera.

Witness G, a crime intelligence officer who manages agents and informants, was expected to give testimony before the Commission on Monday partly in camera, however, due to technical glitches, this was delayed.

Commission chairperson, retired Constitutional Court Justice Mbuyiseli Madlangasaid it had become impractical to proceed under the current order as they experienced technical challenges.

Madlanga previously ruled that Witness G will testify remotely, and in-camera, but will be audible to the public. This after his lawyer raised concerns that his client's identity risks endangering those around him.

“I have to recall that order and I do so purely because it has become impractical for us to proceed along those lines. For those reasons, we will now proceed fully in camera. Members of the public, including the media will not have access to the testimony of the witness,” Madlanga said.
