PRETORIA - Businesswoman Nombasa Ntsondwa-Ndlovu says she feared for her life after alleged bribe payments to former Defence Minister and Parliament Speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula.
She alleged that Mapisa-Nqakula planned funeral arrangements in November 2017 for Ntsondwa-Ndlovu's father, who was still alive at the time.
The defence, however, says the state's star witness is spinning a web of life to make Mapisa-Nqakula look bad.
Ntsondwa-Ndlovu insists that code words were used when the former Minister allegedly requested bribes.
Mapisa-Nqakula's lawyer, Adv. Siyabulela Mapoma questioned why some of the messages did not have coded language. For him, this suggests there was never any agreement between them to communicate in code.
Ntsondwa-Ndlovu, however, stood firm, insisting there was an arrangement in place and that the coded language remained in use throughout their interactions.
Mapisa-Nqakula, however, admits that Ntsondwa-Ndlovu visited her home, but denies receiving the alleged R150,000 bribe.
