PRETORIA - National Police Commissioner, Fannie Masemola, has revealed that President Cyril Ramaphosa was surprised when he heard about Police Minister Senzo Mchunu’s directive to disband the Political Killings Task Team.
eNCA's Pule Letshwiti-Jones reports that Masemola also told the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry that Mchunu said this decision was taken, because there were no politically motivated killings after 1994.

National Police Commissioner, Fannie Masemola, says tensions ran high during a meeting with Police Minister, Senzo Mchunu, in March, over the disbandment of the Political Killings Task Team.
He says Mchunu reacted with anger when he learned that the unit had picked up a new case concerning the murder of an ANC councillor in Mandeni.
Masemola has also testified that suspended Deputy National Police Commissioner for Crime Detection, Shadrack Sibiya, together with Mchunu's Chief of Staff, Cedrick Nkabinde, didn't want the task team dockets to be handed to the KZN murder and robbery unit.
With Masemola now completing his two-day testimony, the next witness is expected at the commission on Thursday, after the Heritage Day public holiday.
