PRETORIA - Alleged crime cartel boss Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala is using his testimony at the Ad Hoc Committee to throw shade on police officials.
He detailed bribes paid to former police Minister Bheki Cele.
He claims the charges laid against him and the raids carried out on his home are politically motivated.
Matlala says he’s being targeted for being awarded a multimillion-rand SAPS healthcare contract.
Matlala recounted events that unfolded during a raid at his home and office.
He says his family was traumatised by the ordeal.
Matlala also questioned the timing of his arrest, saying it came shortly after he stopped taking calls from Bheki Cele.

Matlala claims he paid Cele R500,000 in two cash payments and that the former police minister wanted more money.
Evidence leader Norman Arendse will conclude his examination of Matlala after which MPs will have the chance to question him.
