JOHANNESBURG - The trial-within-a-trial in the attempted murder case against Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala and his co-accused is set to continue on Thursday.
At the centre of the proceedings is a trial within a trial, a legal process that will determine whether certain evidence can be admitted.
The defence turned up the pressure on Tuesday when it submitted details showing the movements of police vehicles during the arrest of alleged hitman Musa Kekana.
This forced the State to request a postponement to review the document.
But the tension soon spilled over in the courtroom.
Chaos erupted in the dock after police allegedly refused to allow the accused to consult with their lawyers.
The State is considering whether to call more witnesses or close its case in the trial within a trial.
