Matric 2025 | KZN topples Free State as best-performing province

DURBAN - KwaZulu-Natal has ended the Free State's dominance as the best performing province in NSC results.

KZN achieved a pass rate of 90.6% while the Free State dropped to second place with 89.33%. 

The Basic Education Minister made the announcement a shorthwile ago

KZN Education MEC Sipho Hlomuka congratulated the class of 2025 before explaining some of the challenges facing the province.

Hlomuka said, "One of the challenges is financial challenges but we are trying our level best with the limited resources we have."

"We can't compromise the future of our learners."

MEC of Education in the Free State, Dr Mamiki Maboyi also congratulated the provincial class of KZN on their collective achievement.

"I think this is good for the system because they are carrying the critical mass," she said.
