Mchunu rejects allegations of meddling in police work

CAPE TOWN - Police Minister Senzo Mchunu says he has never interfered in the work of the police.

He was questioned by Parliament's Ad Hoc Committee into interference and corruption in the criminal justice system.

Mchunu said the disbanding of the political killings task team was a political intervention, not reliant on legislation.

"To be honest, I know of no instance that I could be accused of interference, political interference, for and so it sounded very strange when I heard that, and I couldn't recall whatever instance," he said.
