JOHANNESBURG - After a three-week recess, the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial resumes this Monday in the High Court in Pretoria.

The State is expected to call its final witness.

The proceedings were adjourned earlier this month after the court conducted an inspection in Vosloorus the site where Accused Number 1, Muzi Sibiya, claims he was assaulted and tortured by police.

Sibiya alleges he was coerced into confessing to the murder of the soccer star through beatings and suffocation. He was arrested in May 2020 and confessed on the same day.

Five men are currently standing trial for the 2014 murder of Senzo Meyiwa, former Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates captain.
