Minister to assess Eastern Cape flood damage

MTHATHA - Human Settlements Minister Thembi Simelane is visiting the Eastern Cape to assess flood damage.

Her three-day visit follows President Cyril Ramaphosa’s tour of affected areas last Friday.

Search operations continue for the missing, with the death toll at 90.

The OR Tambo and Amathole District Municipalities are among the most severely affected.

Government, NGOs, and faith-based groups are working to help displaced families.

Eastern Cape Premier Oscar Mabuyane has declared Thursday a day of mourning.
