MK Party challenges Ramaphosa in ConCourt

JOHANNESBURG - The uMkhonto weSizwe Party has filed an urgent application with the Constitutional Court, challenging President Cyril Ramaphosa’s decision to place Police Minister Senzo Mchunu on a leave of absence.

The party wants that decision, the appointment of Professor Firoz Cachalia as acting Police Minister, and the establishment of a commission of inquiry, all declared irrational and invalid.

MK Party supporters have taken to the streets of Pretoria, calling for Ramaphosa’s resignation.
