MK Party chief whip arrested on fraud charges

CAPE TOWN - uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party chief whip Mmabatho Mokoena-Zondi has been arrested on charges of fraud.

The 46-year-old MP is expected to make her first court appearance at the Cape Town Magistrate's Court on Thursday.

It is alleged that between August and December 2024, Mokoena-Zondi defrauded four party employees of over R233 000.  

The MP is accused of taking between 50 to 60 percent of the employee's monthly salaries under the pretext that it was for the legal costs of party leader Jacob Zuma.
