MK Party says its door remains open to a coalition, but there are conditions

JOHANNESBURG - The uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MK Party) says its doors remain open for coalition talks, but parties who are interested have to do more than simply just to come knocking.

MK Party national spokesperson, Sifiso Mahlangu, said they will not compromise on issues it believes voters want them to fight for.

This as he lists some of their ‘preconditions' ahead of any coalition talks.

“Whilst our door is open for negotiations to talk, wherever those meetings are held, the conditions are that the land question must be on the table, radical economic transformation must be on the table, and the identity and the dignity of the African child must be paramount,” Mahlangu said.

According to Mahlangu, coalition talks have not yet started in a formal setting, with their phones ringing non-stop.

“We have been getting calls the whole night, calls from various parties across South Africa who would like meetings and would like engagement with ourselves.

“Outside court this morning, President Jacob Zuma has declared that his door is open and people can talk. We've just set the conditions to which people can engage us.”
