JOHANNESBURG - The Umkhonto weSizwe Party (MKP) has suffered two legal blows.
The MK Party has been ordered by the High Court to reinstate two MPs who had been dismissed by Presidential decree and intends to appeal that judgment.
MK Party president Jacob Zuma expelled Pumlani Kubukeli and Khanyisile Litchfield-Tshabalala from the party and also from Parliament last month.
The Electoral Court has also dismissed the party's challenge related to the 2024 general elections.
The MKP had contested the IEC's vote counting system.

MKP national spokesperson Sifiso Mahlango said the party was seeking justice for what is believed to be hundreds of thousands of voters who ‘were not counted’.
Mahlangu alleged that the party compiled evidence of ballots being found in car boots and toilets, as well as evidence in the form of videos during the 2024 Elections.
He also pointed to the IEC results dashboard, which disappeared for two hours.
“We've got evidence, of course, that the numbers that were there before the screen disappeared were not the numbers that came back, and of course in our papers we argued that we believe we're off in the region of 900,000 votes,” Mahlangu said.
Mahlangu said they do not accept that they were the third-largest party in South Africa, claiming it contended either for the second position or the biggest party in the country.
“We maintain that we were robbed, and we and the IEC know the truth.”
