Mother fears missing teen daughter may have been drugged

CAPE TOWN - Two male suspects aged 36 and 49, along with a female aged 59, have been arrested for murder.

They will appear in the Wynberg magistrate’s court on Friday.

This, after a girl’s body was found stuffed in a box in Hout Bay.

At the same time, Grade 11 pupil Amina Swano vanished on Valentine’s Day and was reported missing on Tuesday morning.

But the body was badly decomposed, making identification difficult.

The teen’s mother, Salama Swano, says her daughter also attended a second party nearby.

When her daughter didn’t come home on Monday, she reported her missing at the Hout Bay police station.

“The moment they said they found a corpse, I immediately started crying because she is the only person missing at the moment, and the only thing I could think it could be just her. I still do," she said.

She says that because the body was badly decomposed, she had to take a DNA swab to determine if it was indeed her daughter's.

Swano fears her daughter may have been drugged with a date rape substance.
