JOHANNESBURG - The Finance Ministry is expected to give details on the withholding of funding from municipalities.
Deputy Finance Minister Ashor Sarupen is expected to outline the reasons behind the intervention.
Treasury is withholding funds from 69 municipalities for failing to adhere to financial management rules.
They include the metros of Johannesburg, Buffalo City, Nelson Mandela Bay and Mangaung.
Treasury insists the move is not punitive but rather corrective.
It says the municipalities were given sufficient notice and were offered support before action was taken.
