Mamelodi – The family and friends of the slain 14-year-old twins have gathered in Mamelodi West to bid farewell to the boys.
Bonolo and Botlhale Makena were found dead in their home a week ago. They had multiple stab wounds.
The boys' mother made the gruesome discovery at home, when she returned from work.
As police investigate, residents are demanding that this case does not become another unresolved killing.
Neighobour Padi Matlala said the Mamelodi West community is demanding justice.
“The community has been here before. The community is saying, ‘please justice system, don't take us there.’ We were there in 1982. Two members of the community were brutally murdered. 44 years later, nobody has been held responsible.
“The community is saying justice system never, never again should you go through this. The pressure that you put on the government throughout the week, the outrage you showed must bear fruit. Somebody or some people must be held responsible for this. We are better than this,” Matlala said.
